King Center Charter School remains stable, focused, and firmly committed to its students under new leadership.
Recent public statements by former school administrators calling for an “investigation” by the Common Council reflect concerns that have been raised previously and reviewed in multiple settings, including a court of law and the State University of New York (SUNY), the school’s authorizer and the entity with direct oversight responsibility. In each instance, these claims have been examined and determined to be without merit.
Importantly, there has been no indication from SUNY—or any governing or regulatory body—that King Center Charter School is at risk of closure. The school continues to operate in good standing and remains focused on fulfilling its academic mission.
King Center Charter School has served its community for many years as a K–8 public charter school with a strong reputation and a student-centered approach. Our leadership team and Board are committed to stability, transparency, and continuous improvement, and to ensuring that decisions are made in the best interests of students and families.
We recognize that public commentary can raise understandable questions, and we want to reassure our school community that King Center remains on solid footing. Our focus remains exactly where it should be—on providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality educational environment where students are at the heart of everything we do. We thank you for your continued support of King Center and we look forward to serving you for another 26 years.
Sincerely,
King Center Board of Trustees
